The Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee is proud to be part of a community that supports each other emotionally, spiritually, and financially.  As a not-for-profit organization, tuition prices are determined  based on the cost to deliver an excellent educational experience for your student.  It is our hope that every student who wants to be part of the Lightning Family has the opportunity to do so.
Financial circumstances are always difficult for families considering a Private, Christian High School education for their children.  We make every effort to offer a fair tuition price as well as creative tuition assistance options.  After you explore the options below, please reach out so we can creatively work with you and your specific, financial situation.  It all starts with a conversation!

60% of students receive tuition assistance.

Donor-Funded Financial Aid

Lake Country Lutheran has an amazing group of donors and supporters that give annually to the Lightning Fund. These donors allow families in need to receive financial aid.  Currently, students' financial aid awards roll-over for all 4-years to give families confidence in their budget planning.  Only new students apply for financial aid.
LCL uses TADS to assist with determining levels of donor funded financial aid for its families.  Please apply early and give yourself enough time.
This entire process can take up to 2-4 weeks.
  • Complete the TADS Financial Aid application by April 15th*
  • Upload all required documents as soon as possible.  A W-2, 1040**, debt documentation, and other tax forms will need to be submitted to TADS.
  • Both the application and all required documentation must be completed before a financial aid determination can be made.
  • Determinations are sent via an email from TADS.
*The TADS Financial Aid Application can be completed after April 15th, however, the majority of financial aid will be awarded to those families that meet the April 15th deadline.
**A TADS financial aid application can be submitted with a previous year tax return at any time.  However, the most recent calendar year tax information will still need to be submitted to TADS by April 15th to verify that award amount. LCL reserves the right to change the financial aid award due to significant change in the financial situation of the family from year-to-year.
For further questions about the TADS application process or tuition assistance considerations, please contact the Director of Admissions, Mr. Carson Cantwell.

Partnership Congregation Discount

Lake Country Lutheran is supported by 30 congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod who are fundamental in creating communities rooted in Christian values, and inspiring and shaping students through an education in Christ.  These churches support our high school ministry by giving chapels, being present on-campus, offering youth groups, praying for our families, through financial support, and governance of our organization.  Lightning families who are members of these congregations receive a tuition discount of up to $2,000 per year.  To see if your church is on the list or if you would like to become a member at one of these churches, check out the list below.

Student Emergency Fund

Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we now have a fund specifically for families in desperate financial situations.  Similar to financial aid, this is donor-funded financial support.  Donors designed this fund to support returning students whose families are experiencing extreme financial circumstances. These are temporary financial awards and do not roll-over from year-to-year.  Please reach contact the Director of Admissions for more information.

Class of '16, Nathan

"LCL has developed me as a leader through character LCL, we’re taught that our character is so much more that what you say. It’s what you do, how you act, how you react to situations. Watching teachers do that makes me want to have them as a role model and imitate them, being loving and kind, giving and forgiving."

Beginning with the tax year 2014, the State of Wisconsin introduced legislation (Wis. Stat. § 71.05(6)(b)49), in which private school tuition payments paid on or after January 1, 2014 are eligible for an annual income tax deduction. Qualified taxpayers may potentially claim up to the deduction limit ($4,000 in 2020) for each dependent child in grades Kindergarten through 8th and up to the deduction limit ($10,000 in 2020) for each dependent child in grades 9th through 12th. Tuition claimed must be paid in the tax year in which it is being filed.
For more information on how to claim these expenses, click on the Wisconsin Department of Revenue form: Schedule PS - Private School Tuition. In preparing the form, taxpayers will need our FEIN which is 39-0889672, as well as the amount of tuition paid last year.
To obtain your tuition payments, log into your TADS account and click the billing tab. Enter the tax filing year into “Household Paid Tuition Tax Report” and hit submit. TADS can be reached at 612-548-3320 and will address questions about accessing the report.
