Christmastime. It’s that wonderful time of year when lights twinkle and there’s a little more excitement in the air- special music on the radio and decorations in every home, shop, and street corner. It’s a time of preparation. It’s also that time of year when schedules get just a little bit crazy - decorations and lights need to be displayed, presents need to be selected, purchased, and wrapped, cookies need to be baked, and time needs to be carved out for holiday gatherings. The world is just plain busy during the month of December.

We, here at Lake Country Lutheran High School, are busy as well. Classes are ramping up as the semester comes to a close, basketball, wrestling, and dance are in full swing, our musical ensembles are rehearsing before school, during school, after school - every minute they can find, and all with final exams just around the corner. But at LCL, there’s more than just busyness this month. There’s an anticipation about the coming of the Christ Child and a desire to share this good news among our LCL family and the greater Lake Country community.

This anticipation can be felt in the decorations appearing in classrooms and common areas around the building, in our LIFT groups as they make plans for their holiday time together, and in our music department as they prepare for their 18th annual Christmas Concert.

The Christmas Concert is a long-standing tradition at LCL and an opportunity each year to take an evening away from the busyness of the season and focus our hearts and minds on the real reason we celebrate Christmas. Instrumental and Choral ensembles including Concert Band, Jazz Band, Flute Choir, Resound Handbell Choir, Broadway, Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble- all groups are preparing to present an evening of Christmas music in joyful praise to God for the gift of His Son.

The concert is Friday, December 16, 2016 at 7:00pm in the Great Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm and everyone is welcome! Come celebrate this Christmas season with the students of LCL!
