A new idea has surfaced, that could become a huge fundraiser for us! I'll lay out the idea, and then share a couple of drawbacks or roadblocks. If you can help in any of the roadblock areas, please let me know. In addition, if you would be willing to spearhead this fundraiser, please contact me as soon as possible.
I recently went to a "Dress Sale", where all types and sizes of gently used/worn formal dresses were for sale. People had donated formal/homecoming/"prom" dresses (rather than letting them sit in their closets and never be worn again) to this organization. They then priced them very reasonably and sold them to the general public. If you purchased a dress from them and saved the receipt, you could "sell it back" at a later date for 30% of what you paid for it. In addition to dresses, they also collected and sold formal shoes, handbags and wraps.
I would like to see us pursue this for the Lake Country area. This project would entail advertising to our LCL population, as well as to the surrounding community to solicit donations of formal dresses. One of the roadblocks is that we have absolutely NO STORAGE SPACE available here at LCL. Therefore, we would need to find someone who has storage space at their home that would be willing to let us use it to store the dresses. As dresses are collected, they could be priced and hung for sale. We would then have to transport the dresses to school prior to the "sale date". I would foresee having two sales per year - only one remaining this school year. This one would be set for the spring, a couple of weeks prior to Spring Formal (and we would want to look at calendars for surrounding area high schools to see when their proms are scheduled). Then, we would continue to collect dresses and have another sale in fall a couple of weeks prior to Homecoming. In addition to advertising for donation of the formals, we would also have to advertise the sales themselves, in advance enough that girls/moms would come and still have enough time to find a dress elsewhere if they couldn't find one here.
The sale I went to was held on a Sunday, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
I would like to come up with a "catchy" name for our sale, like "_________'s Closet", or something else that has to do with the school name.
If anyone is interested in spearheading this project, or helping with it, please contact me at sdenkert@lakecountryhs.org.

The Seroogy's candy bars have arrived and been handed out! The cost is $1.50 each, or $18. per dozen. Each student had the chance to decide what kind he/she wanted to sell. Most everyone received a box with bags of 12 bars. For each bag of 12, the student needs to turn in $18. An entire box is 4 dozen (48) bars, and is $72. We will be closing the sale shortly before Thanksgiving, so get out and sell!
You will receive 50% of the cost as profit. So, for each candy bar sold, $.75 will go into your account. It may not seem like a lot, but once you really start to sell them, it will add up fast! When you return your money, please either leave it in the ziploc bag from the bars, and write the student's name on the bag, or put it in a labled envelope. Thanks!

In order to raise money for students to be able to go on choir tour in March, we offer several fundraisers. Each student will have an account set up in his/her name, and all money raised will be accumulated in their account. When payments are made, the money will also be placed in this account. Once all fundraisers are completed, the amount in the student's tour account will be applied to the balance due on his/her account.
Planned fundraisers - Entertainment Book Sale - No more book returns accepted! All money is due immediately!
Fall/Spring Bulb Sale - Order will be placed on Tuesday, Oct. 5
Costume Packing Warehouse - Various Dates - NOW PAYING MINIMUM WAGE - $7.25/HOUR!!!!!
Seroogy's Candy Bars - Sale will start soon!!!
Poinsettia Sale - Christmas Concert - Order forms will come in Nov.
Bake/Rose Sale - In February
There CAN be other fundraisers. I will keep looking for fundraising opportunities that will yield large profits with a minimum amount of work and as little "selling to family and friends" as possible. I have a couple of ideas, and will pursue them and let you know when I've added any fundraisers.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
The Band and Choir will start the Entertainment Book sale the first week of school. Students will have an opportunity to take books home and sell them to family and friends, or they can take orders and deliver them later. Online sales are also an option for those family members and friends that do not live in the area. Students will receive the profit for books sold online in other parts of the country! Order forms and sale date information will be handed out the first week of school.
FALL/SPRING BULB SALE
This Fall, the Choir will be selling Spring flower bulbs. On September 3, order forms and pamphlets will be handed out to all choir members. Order forms will be due on September 17, along with all money. The orders will then be shipped directly to your customers. There will be no handling of the bulbs once the orders are placed! Students will receive approximately 45% profit on this sale.
COSTUME WAREHOUSE
We have a unique opportunity to make some great money by working in a Halloween costume packaging warehouse. The work involved can be anything from computer work, to "picking" items from a pick-list from shelves and placing them in boxes, packing items in boxes for shipping, to loading boxes on trucks. There are several dates that you may participate in this fundraiser.
September 12 September 13
September 19 September 20
September 26 September 27
October 3 October 4
October 10 October 11
October 17 October 18
October 24 October 25
Each work shift is from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. You will be paid minimum wage. You may work as few or as many shifts as you'd like. You may bring relatives and friends to work for your student. The only "drawback" is that they ask that freshmen not come to work. However, parents of freshmen are encouraged to come and work for their children, (and bring aunts or uncles!). If a student and two parents work one day, they will receive $174. If all three people work 7 shifts, you can have your entire trip paid for!!!
The costume warehouse is located in New Berlin. It is easy to find, and the work is fun! More information will follow!

COSTUME WAREHOUSE WORKERS
If you are scheduled to work at the Costume Warehouse to raise money for tour, you should arrive at approximately 7:20 AM, so you are ready to work at 7:30. You should bring a lunch. Soda machines are available, and a refrigerator is available to store your lunch until break time.
You may wear jeans and t-shirts. (LCL shirts would be great - especially if you're working hard!) Wear comfortable shoes, as you are on your feet almost all day.
The warehouse (Buy Seasons) is located at 5915 S. Moorland Rd. in New Berlin. It is south of I41 on Moorland Rd., on the west side of the street. "Mapquest" it to see how long they recommend to allow to get there.
The shift goes until 4:00 PM. It's a long day, but you'll have made some money to put toward the upcoming tour! Yeah!
