This class is designed to introduce you to the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design and how they are applied to creating art using different media.  You will have the opportunity to work with pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, collage and mixed media to create a variety of projects at your own level of mastery. (Materials fee: $25)

DRAWING AND PAINTING (AR 200) 10,11,12                 AR 100                              1
Taking the skills learned in Art Survey to the next level, this class will help you develop your skills in drawing and painting, learning techniques for the dynamic use of color, shading, and perspective.  Again, using a variety of media including acrylics, watercolor, pastels, and pencils, you will learn to individually express your own ideas. (Materials fee: $25)

ADVANCED DRAWING AND PAINTING (AR 300) 10,11,12      AR 200                     1
This individualized course will allow you to further refine and develop your drawing and/or painting skills. Emphasis will be placed upon creative and original work based upon research and understanding of prominent artists and artistic movements. (Materials fee: $25)

THREE-DIMENSIONAL ART (AR 325) 11,12                         AR 200                         1
This course reinforces the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design and how they are related to the individual creative process.  Skills and techniques learned and practiced in previous art classes will be refined as there is an emphasis placed on individual student creativity.  A wide variety of media will be used for 3-dimensional projects. (Materials fee: $25)
 
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (AR 350)    11,12                           AR 200                          1

This course will provide students with the opportunity to explore the language, skills and materials of photographic art.  The student will become acquainted with the process and tools associated with digital photography, and the ethics and practices of photojournalism.  Special emphasis is placed on learning proficiency within computer media applications.  The student must provide their own digital camera.  (Materials fee:  $50)

CERAMICS (AR 375)                                               10,11,12                           AR 200                                1
This course develops students' perception, creative, technical, and problem-solving skills in a ceramic arts context.  Elements and principles of design are identifed and employed.  Aesthetic judgment and good studio practice are cultivated.  (Materials fee: $50)

 
AP STUDIO ART 2D                              11,12                         AR 300                       1

This Advanced Placement (AP) course will provide students the opportunity to pursue and receive credit for college-level work at the secondary level.  AP Studio Art is based on the student’s submitted portfolio of artwork that is evaluated in early May of each school year.  Portfolios are designed to allow freedom in artistic expression while keeping in mind that the quality and breadth of the work should reflect first-year college-level standards.  (Materials fee: $50 and cost of submitting the portfolio in May)
